9TH ANNUAL JUBILEE FREEDOM AWARDS

This year's Jubilee Awards Dinner  showcased local Savannah “Sheroes and Heroes” who represent the spirit,  bravery, and tenacity of Susie King Taylor. Michael Thurmond, DeKalb County CEO, was our  keynote speaker.  He is also a historian and author of books on freedom in America and has just published his most recent book of General James Oglethorpe, founder of Savannah in 1733.  "There is much more to know about James Oglethorpe," he said in an interview with WSB-2 in Atlanta. Other special guests were Representative Carl Gilliard, several distinguished City Council members, and representatives from the Weeping Time and CURE among others.  The Taylor Justice Award,  Sankofa Award,  Jubilee Award, and others were awarded on the enchanting evening.  Sistah Patt Gunn received The North Star Award from the Susie King Taylor Center for Jubilee Board of Directors and Coalition members.
