The Susie King Taylor Center for Jubilee, Inc. is a grassroots public policy organization with a mission of harnessing strength in numbers to influence public opinion. Its focus is sharing the history of slavery and freedom using these four tools of consciousness: 1) Truth telling, 2) Reconciliation, 3) Healing, & 4) Repair. The Center empowers individuals, nonprofits, governmental institutions, schools, universities and churches through trainings in their "Four Tools of Consciousness Kit" as a standard to effect positive change locally, across the state of Georgia, and nationwide.
OUR HISTORY
'Making Good Trouble' on the Georgia Coast
Sistah Patt Gilliard Gunn founded the Center for Jubilee, Reconciliation, and Healing in 2014. Sistah Rosalyn Rouse joined her as co-director in 2015 after a successful presentation at The White House with Gunn's Gullah Geechee folk arts group "The Saltwata Players." Rouse hails from the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum and is a National Slave Reenactor. Gunn is a certified paralegal and social justice advocate of over 30 years.
The Center provides cultural heritage enrichment, tools of consciousness, and diversity training to law enforcement agencies, armed services diversity officers, museums, school administrators, church leaders, government officials, and corporations within the southeastern region of the U.S. It designs symposiums, workshops, conferences, galleries, festivals, and lectures on historical truth telling, reconciliation, healing, and repair in relation to the African American journey from slavery to freedom in America.
